Specialty «Agronomy» provides the following skills:
- to lead a team, ensure staff development, and tolerate social, ethnic, and cultural differences;
- analyze and evaluate current problems, development prospects, and the scientific and technical policy in agronomy;
- to create new technologies and apply modern agronomy technologies, taking into account their features and, using advanced experience of their implementation, to develop the scientific basis for technologies of growing agricultural crops;
- evaluate land suitability for growing agricultural crops considering requirements to ensure quantity and quality of production;
- solve complex tasks in broad or multidisciplinary contexts based on specialized conceptual knowledge, including modern scientific achievements in agronomy;
- present results of professional and scientific activity to specialists and non-specialists;
- independently organize and conduct scientific research using generally accepted methods and standards for soil and plant samples;
- develop and teach educational disciplines at higher education and vocational education institutions;
- use research methodology, special methods and tools of experimental research, modern data processing methods to solve complex agronomy problems;
- integrate knowledge from different fields to solve complex theoretical and/or practical tasks and problems of agronomy;
- develop and implement economically significant production and research projects in agronomy considering available resources and constraints, technical, social, legal and environmental aspects;
- search for necessary information and evaluate it in scientific and technical literature, analyze, process and evaluate this information;
- plan and conduct scientific and applied research in agronomy, analyze results, justify conclusions;
- evaluate and analyze the current range of mineral fertilizers, plant protection chemicals, and biotechnology products to develop scientifically justified systems for their use;
- develop and implement environmentally safe methods and technologies for producing high-quality crop products considering agro-landscape features and economic efficiency;
- manage work processes that are complex and unpredictable, make effective decisions, evaluate and compare alternatives, analyze risks;
- freely communicate in state and foreign languages to discuss results of professional activity, research and innovative projects in the field of agricultural sciences and food;
- effectively manage personnel and resources, ensure professional development of staff, objectively evaluate the results of the team’s activities and the contributions of its members to these results;
- perform business design and marketing assessment of the execution and implementation of innovative developments;
- select the optimal farming strategy in agronomy, including under unclear goals and uncertain conditions;
- provide consultations on questions of innovative technologies in agronomy.
In the educational process, classrooms with multimedia equipment, teaching and research laboratories «Soil Fertility», «Hydroponic Vegetable Growing in a Domed Greenhouse», «Industrial Mushroom Cultivation and Technologies for the Protection of Cultivated Mushrooms», the Laboratory of the CNTU Expert Center within the Erasmus+ project «Innovative Methods for Diagnosing the State of Soils and Plants», the vegetation complex, experimental field, pomology garden are used.
Our students undergo internships at enterprises:

Gitalov LLC, LLC «Agroresurs», Farm «Olden K», FSF «TIOS», LLC Trading House «AGRO-BRAND», LLC «PROMIN-В», Farm «Nadiya», LLC «Yelisavet-Agro». Internship takes place in France and Germany.
Special feature of the specialty: The training of specialists is aimed at forming graduates' theoretical knowledge and practical skills for analysis, development, implementation and adjustment of the latest farming systems and agronomic technologies for main field crops and predicting the consequences of their introduction in the Center of Ukraine to ensure sustainable yields, to obtain high-quality environmentally safe products, to reduce negative impact on the environment, to preserve and restore soil fertility, which will contribute to balanced land use and will form sustainable development of the crop production sector of agricultural enterprises in the Center of Ukraine under climate change.
The leading scientists of the Institute of Steppe Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and highly qualified specialists of the Central Ukrainian agro-industrial complex are involved in the educational process. Students undergo practice in highly developed agricultural formations of the Kirovohrad region and other regions of Ukraine, have the opportunity to undertake professional and scientific internships in European countries within the Erasmus+ project. The department hosts the club «SMART FARMER» and the scientific circle «Agronomist», at meetings of which students receive information about the latest achievements in crop production and can communicate with alumni and highly qualified specialists in the field of agronomy.
Master’s training in the specialty «Agronomy» is conducted by the Department of General Crop Farming.
