The Kyiv office of the Institute of International Education (IIE) is accepting applications for the upcoming competitions for Fulbright scholarships for internships and research in the 2026–2027 academic year.

We encourage everyone involved in research work to consider the opportunities provided by the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program.

Application deadline October 15, 2025.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program enables research at U.S. universities, research centers, libraries, museums, archives, etc., for a period of three to nine months.

 

Eligibility requirements.

The following are eligible to participate in the competition:

  • faculty members and researchers from scientific societies, higher education and research institutions (universities, institutes, and academies) who, at the time of application, hold a Candidate of Sciences, PhD/Doctor of Arts, or Doctor of Sciences degree;
  • researchers without an academic degree who hold a full higher education degree (specialist, master's), have at least ten years of research experience and recognized scientific authority in their field of study, and have publications (articles, monographs, or chapters in monographs) in domestic and/or foreign (international) peer-reviewed scientific journals;
  • cultural and art figures, library and museum professionals, journalists, and public figures with a full higher education degree (specialist, master's), at least ten years of research experience, significant professional achievements, and a body of scientific work in their chosen field of research (articles, monographs, or chapters in monographs) in domestic and/or foreign (international) peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Fields of specialization: humanities, social, exact, technical, and natural sciences.

General requirements for candidates:

  • must be a citizen of Ukraine and reside in Ukraine at the time of the competition;
  • must have a level of English proficiency sufficient for professional communication in an English-speaking scientific environment;
  • must return to Ukraine for 2 years after the grant period ends, in accordance with the requirements of the J-1 visa issued to exchange program participants.

* In 2025, the Kyiv office of the Institute of International Education (IIE), which manages the Fulbright Program, is accepting applications from candidates currently in Ukraine, as well as those who were forced to leave the country due to the war after February 24, 2022.

Grant terms:

  • monthly stipend;
  • health insurance;
  • round-trip ticket.
