About the Faculty
The history of the Agrotechnical Faculty dates back to 1967, when, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering was established on the basis of the Kirovohrad branch of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute under the organization of the Kirovohrad Institute of Agricultural Engineering. In accordance with the decision of the University Academic Council dated 01.10.2018, the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering was renamed the Agrotechnical Faculty.
Today, the faculty is one of the leading institutions in Ukraine for training specialists in agricultural engineering, the agro-industrial complex, as well as ecology and environmental protection.
The faculty has a modern material and technical base and a highly qualified teaching staff for the high-quality training of bachelors and masters, as well as for conducting creative and research work on modern ecological technologies for growing agricultural crops and developing and creating technical equipment for their application while preserving the environment. All specialties of the faculty are accredited at the highest IV level and provide training for masters in full-time and part-time forms of study. The faculty has postgraduate and doctoral programs.
Higher education students of the faculty have the opportunity to undergo internships abroad in countries such as Germany under various programs (Bavarian Farmers' Union, DEULA-Nienburg, Allfein Feinkost GmbH), the United States of America (Work and Travel USA), France (Ki-France), Denmark, Finland, the Czech Republic, and to study in the joint French-Ukrainian master's program at AgroSupDijon.
Scientific activity at the Agrotechnical Faculty is carried out in areas that correspond to the profile of master's training. Scientific schools and an industry laboratory for the design and research of agricultural machinery for crop production are actively operating, and an educational and scientific complex is working under an establishment agreement with the State Administration of Ecology and Natural Resources in the Kirovohrad region.
In scientific schools, the industry laboratory, and departments, research is conducted in the following scientific areas:
- design of modern agricultural machinery;
- improving the technical level of tillage and seeding machines;
- development of new technologies for soil cultivation, harvesting, and grain cleaning;
- mechanization and automation of agricultural production and primary processing and storage of products;
- development of energy-saving and environmentally safe technologies for growing crop production.
The faculty carries out the entire research cycle – from fundamental research to the implementation of research results into production. Postgraduate students have the opportunity to undergo scientific internships at research centers in leading countries of the world.
Scientific work is carried out by teachers, higher education students, postgraduate students, and doctoral students, as well as by full-time scientific staff. 95 percent of the total teaching staff and more than 30 percent of higher education students are engaged in scientific work.
